India's Total telephone connections have decreased by 0.99 million, in
that Wireless telephone connections decreased by 0.68 million in April
2013, and the total telephone connections in the country is 897 million
as on 30th April 2013. The major decrease in the total connections is
due to the decrease of BSNL(2.52mn), Sistema Shyam (1.92 mn) and Tata
(0.82 mn) in the total connection during April 2013 (As per COAI &
AUSPI report).
For Telephone Services
The total telephone connections as on 30-04-2013 are 897 millions, out of which 119.14 million connections are provided by BSNL and BSNL is at 5th position as an operator with Market share of 13.28%.
Only Wireless Services
BSNL is at 5th position as an operator with Market share of 11.41% and market share has been decreased by 0.25% during the month of April 2013. BSNL has been at 13th position w.r.t. addition of the total connections during FY 2013-14 (upto April 2013).
The total wireless industry has declined by 0.08% in terms of connections during the month of April 2013 and BSNL has also declined by 2.21%.
Only Broadband(DSL) Services
During March 2013, 0.05 million broadband connections were increased taking the total broadband connections in the country to 15.05 million as on 31.03.2013. BSNL continues its 1st position as an operator with Market share of 65.96% as on 31-03-2013. BSNL market share has increased by 0.02% during the month of March 2013 and by 1.35% during 2012-13 (upto 31-03-2013). The total connections as on 31-03-2013 are 15.05 million, out of which 9.93 million are provided by BSNL

Total tele-density in the country is 73.16%, and Broadband-density is
1.23% out of which BSNL’s share is 0.81% as on 31-03-2013. BSNL hold to
continue the 1st position as an operator with total number of telephone
connections in a single license area viz. Kerala Circle, and in total
number of mobile connections, BSNL has No.2 position in 4 License areas
viz. Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Orissa Circles.
