Telecom subscriber base declined marginally to 89.7 crore in April: TRAI
The telecom subscriber base in the country declined by 10 lakh to 89.7
crore users at the end of April from a month earlier, the Telecom
Regulatory Authority of India said on Thursday.
"The number of telephone subscribers in India decreased to 897.02 million at the end of April 2013 from 898.02 million at the end of March 2013, thereby showing a monthly growth rate of -0.11 percent," the TRAI said in a report.

India mulls eliminating cap on foreign investment in telcos
India's Telecom Commission is considering a proposal to lift the
foreign direct investment limit in the sector from 74 percent to 100
percent.
The Hindu reported on Monday that the Telecom Commission, an inter-departmental body with financial and administrative powers, is meeting today to decide whether the foreign ownership cap should be lifted. It had previously been raised to 74 percent from 49 percent.
